  3D Options
 

Welcome to the New 3D Backgammon.  Here you will learn how to change boards, add objects, and create your very own boards.  

Let's go to the Options.  This is in the Menu above the board Options, then Board Settings:

Now you will see a window with lots of options to customize your board!

Scene Tab Choices
 you configure here the appearance of the board

  • Board : The board itself (and the cube)

  • Your Checkers : the checker you play, for some (Glass, Metal, Base) you can pick an color

  • Opponent Checkers: the checker your opponent plays, for some (Glass, Metal, Base) you can pick an color

  • Table : the surface on which the board lays

  • Antialias: The options is available only on rather powerful video card, if turned on the display will be smoother reducing the "stairway" effect. Be careful performance drops a lot when this option is used.

  • See Shadow: If turned on, checker and dice cast a shadow on the board (or several depending of the light scheme used). Turning the option off improve performance on slow video card.

  • Dice always aligned: If checked the dice will always lay parallel to the board.

Object Tab Choices
Here you can configure the objects around the board and the arm

  • Object Set #1: pick on the object, by default it will be on the right of the board. Check the "switch position" to move it to the left. Pick the empty line if you don't want the object to be displayed. Note that some object have a customizable color your can select (a little color picking square will be displayed on the right)

  • Object Set #2: Same as Above

  • See arm: If the animation are enabled, an arm will move the checker and roll the dice. if you don't want to see the arm turn this option off.

  • Both player/Opponent: If set to both player the arm move also your checkers, if you think it impair you visibility of the checkers during your move set the option to opponent.

  • Right/Left handed: Set if the arm is a left or right arm (note that the same arm is used for both players).

  • Skin tone: Set the skin tone of the arm

Animations
you configure here the speed of the animation

  • Enabled Animations: turn on or off animations

  • Global animation speed: Higher value means slower (and smoother) animations.

The next entry allow to configure the speed of each animation or to disable them. A speed of 100 mean the default speed, lower value means faster animations.

  • Roll Dice: You see the dice rolling and bouncing.

  • Invert dice: When you invert the active dice the inversion is animated

  • Pick dice: upon completion of the move, the arm pick and remove the dice form the board.

  • Slide checker: you see the arm pick and slide the checker on the board.

  • Arm speed: Speed of the arm entering the playing area.

Camera and lights Tab Choices
you configure here the view and the lighting of the scene

  • Camera: allows you to move the camera around. Left and Right, turn the camera around the center of the board.  Up and down  move the camera closer or farther form the board. Plus and minus  Button move the camera up and down, still looking at the center of the board. Tilt up and down, tilt the camera.

  • Preset camera: you can use that drop down list to pick amongst the different preset views.

  • Light Scheme: Select amongst the different Light scheme

  • Light Intensity: 100 show normal light, Higher values brighten the scene, lower values darken it.

Other options

  • Invert board: if selected the checker exit form your left, otherwise form your right.
  • Display Coordinates: Show the board coordinates around the board
  • Fixed: the coordinates do not change with the turn
  • Change with turn: the coordinates change accordingly to who is on the roll

2D options
you configure here the board if you are using 2D

  • Game Board: The board used. if the Word "(coordinates)" is displayed the board can display the coordinated properly. If not the coordinates are built in the board and will not be proper  if you use the "invert board"

  • Your checkers: the checkers you play

  • Opponent Checker: the checkers your opponent plays.

  • Coordinates color: Pick here the color to display the coordinates.
